This Privacy Policy (the "Policy") applies to HeartPatients.com. (collectively, "HeartPatients.com," "we" or "us") social networking website known as HeartPatients.com ("HeartPatients.com"). It does NOT apply to other online or offline HeartPatients.com websites, products or services.
This Policy explains what information we collect about you and what we do with it. We reserve the right to modify this Policy at any time, and we will notify you of any material changes to the Policy by posting the new Policy here and changing the "Effective Date" at the top. We encourage you to check this page periodically for any changes. By using or navigating any of HeartPatients.com, you acknowledge that you have read, understand and agree to be bound by this Policy or any modified Policy as posted. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use or visit any portion of HeartPatients.com.
Do not reveal home addresses, phone numbers or anything else that you wouldn't want a stranger to have. Please be aware that all information (including photos or videos) that you post on public sections of the community and all information (excluding your e-mail address and your password) that is contained in your HeartPatients.com profile can be seen by every Member and Visitor to the Site.
What information do we collect?
We collect personal information submitted by users such as name, e-mail address and age in order to authenticate those users and to send administrative messages to them. HeartPatients.com collects other personal information such as gender, school name, major and interests to facilitate communication between users. We generally collect this personal information when you sign up to create your profile on HeartPatients.com. We may also collect information about you from time to time through our online surveys if you choose to participate.
We collect and keep track of content and messages that you have uploaded on HeartPatients.com. We will also facilitate the storage of email addresses in our users' internal HeartPatients.com address books.
We collect IP addresses and anonymous demographic information (such as your zip code and browser type) and may use this data to: tailor your experience on HeartPatients.com; provide content in which we think you may be interested; display content according to your preferences; and analyze traffic to HeartPatients.com.

Do we use web beacons?
Yes. HeartPatients.com contains electronic images known as "web beacons" or single-pixel gifs that allow us to count visitors and deliver co-branded services. Web beacons collect limited information including cookie number, time and date of a page view and a description of the page on which the web beacon resides.
Is HeartPatients.com secure?
We are committed to maintaining the security of your information and have reasonable measures in place to protect against the loss, misuse and alteration of the information you provide, which is under our control. All information is stored in a secure location behind a firewall with limited administrative access.
In addition, your member account is secured by a password created by you. Do not share your password with anyone. It is your responsibility to keep your password confidential, and HeartPatients.com cannot be held liable for any loss or misuse of your password.
Does this Policy apply to other linked sites?
No. HeartPatients.com contains links to other Internet sites, resources and sources of HeartPatients.com. By clicking on any ad banner or other link, you will be redirected off HeartPatients.com and to third party websites. HeartPatients.com is not responsible for the privacy policies of such sites. You should make sure that you read and understand the privacy policies of these sites and direct any concerns regarding external links to the site administrator or webmaster of that third party website.
How do I unsubscribe from emails?
All e-mails you receive from us will include specific instructions on how to unsubscribe, and you may unsubscribe at any time. Additionally, we give you the following options for removing your information from our database:
(1) send an email to heartpatients@kify.com
(2) change your email preferences within your profile settings;
Can I update/correct my information?
Yes. You may correct or update your personal information by editing your profile information on HeartPatients.com or by sending us an email at heartpatients@kify.com. Even if you update or remove your information from our live database, however, your personal data may be retained in our backup files and archives.
